After over 25 years of repairing and modding all types of guitars in my shop, Ralph’s House of Tone in Dover NH, I decided, just for fun, to put together a vintage-style guitar with a big fat neck and reclaimed pine body and license plate pickguard for my personal use. Soon customers were asking me if I could do the same for them and Fifty Two Custom Guitars was born.

Each guitar is built one at a time by me on a special order basis. Most are built around a classic, simple, familiar design but I’m always intrigued to try something different or unique. I work with most tonewoods and finishes and always install top-quality components. Most are distressed to look, and more importantly feel, like an old friendly guitar that’s been loved for decades. Occasionally instruments are available for sale in my Reverb store as well as other instruments and vintage gear.
